BYD Launches Third-Gen Atto 3 in China with Up to 630 km Range and New Tech Upgrades

BYD has launched the third-generation Atto 3 in China, marking a major update to its compact electric crossover that is sold domestically as the Yuan Plus. The update brings significant changes in platform, battery technology, charging speed, and driving assistance systems.

The new model is underpinned by BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and uses the second-generation Blade Battery system. It also introduces flash-charging capability, allowing rapid energy replenishment under optimal conditions.

Power is delivered through a rear-wheel-drive setup with single-motor options producing 200 kW or 240 kW, depending on variant. Battery packs include 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh units, delivering CLTC-rated ranges of around 540 km and up to 630 km respectively.

Design-wise, the Atto 3 retains BYD’s “Dragon Face” styling but adopts a cleaner, flatter front profile with slimmer headlamps, semi-hidden door handles, and a full-width rear light bar featuring patterned illumination.

The SUV measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, sitting on a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Practicality has also improved with a powered 180-litre front trunk and up to 750 litres of rear cargo capacity, along with multiple storage solutions inside the cabin.

The interior receives a notable upgrade with a larger floating central display running the latest DiLink system, a redesigned steering wheel, column-mounted shifter, head-up display, and 50W wireless charging.

Higher trims add features such as ventilated and heated seats, a reclining front passenger “Queen Seat,” steering wheel heating, and a 16-speaker audio system. BYD has also added several clever storage compartments throughout the cabin to improve usability.

On the technology front, higher variants can be equipped with BYD’s DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye B” driver assistance system, which integrates lidar and around 30 sensing units. This enables highway and urban navigation assistance along with automated parking functions.

The chassis also benefits from DiSus-C intelligent damping control, iTAC 2.0 torque management, and tire blowout stability control, all aimed at enhancing ride stability and safety.

First introduced in 2022, the Atto 3 has become one of BYD’s key global models, with cumulative sales reportedly exceeding 1.1 million units across more than 100 markets.

The third-generation update strengthens its position in the fast-growing electric SUV space, where competition is intensifying, particularly in China’s compact EV segment.

The BYD Atto 3 has been a blockbuster model for BYD in Nepal. The current-generation Atto 3 is priced at Rs. 59.99 Lakh for the Advanced variant and Rs. 67.80 Lakh for the Superior variant.
